Star Trails socks

Hi friends!

this is the Easter cake my mom made!

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We spent the day cleaning the house and then had dinner with our families together. I couldn't resist dyeing eggs at the last moment...actually it was more like I decided to dye them right after Scott suggested we clean the house... :) I used food coloring and Kool-aid because I hadn't purchased any egg dye. The Kool-aid worked ok, except I found it makes the egg also taste like Kool-aid! Just a PSA for anyone who thinks they might want to dye eggs with Kool-aid in the future... (I haven't eaten one dyed with food coloring yet)

Pattern: Honey Badgers by Irishgirlieknits
my Ravelry project page  --  April 10 - April 22
Yarn: Lynai in Star Trails
Needles: US 1 - 2.25 mm
Modifications: the pattern has two charts; one to be worked on the leg and one for the foot. The difference between the two charts is the number of rows between eyelets. I decided to knit from just one chart so the pattern would be the same. I believe I used the foot chart. I also used a Fish Lips Kiss heel rather than the pattern's heel.

This is pair ten of thirteen! I think when I reach thirteen pairs I will change my goal. Maybe I'll aim for twenty pairs...

I really like the pattern! It is easy to memorize and adds just enough interest that the socks aren't completely mindless but still fun to knit if you are concentrating just on socks and nothing else.

In other news, I have started selling yarn on eBay. It started as an eBay promo but it was so exciting when the first yarn sold that I listed more. The yarn is from my stash that I will most likely never ever knit. I am still going through my stash and will likely add more things as I find them. It is kind of hard to part with yarn, especially if it had a purpose at one point. But it is much more appealing to me to reclaim that space. Anyway. If you are interested, my listings are here. Happy Saturday!! I have been looking forward to this day all week because I decided I will only work on bunny nuggets today :) they are honestly my favorite things to knit. They work up so quickly, look cute in any weight yarn, make such great little gifts, and are perfect to use up yarn ends. Some people hexipuff, I bunny nugget :)

Yes, I am ready for Christmas. Our tree has already gone up. I am not sure what possessed Scott, but last week he asked where the tree was and then set it up. We usually wait until after Thanksgiving, but honestly, I am not complaining! I love the holiday season. I love the Christmas lights and decorations. I love the music (I find myself randomly humming lines from Christmas songs...the title of this post is the one that goes through my head the most often!). I don't love the crowds of hurried, angry and tired people.

And I am more than set to start Christmas socks too:

My first purchase from Handdyed by Allie Cat and I couldn't be more in love!! The skein on the left is colorway Sea Monster and the right skein is Twas the Night of the Zombies Before Christmas (hehe)

and I had to make a new Christmas sock sack

and I might have more holiday yarn on the way... :)

I am about one inch from starting the toe decreases, yay! They will be my last project for Andi's Fall into Fall KAL.

Pattern: Cabled Kindling by Rachel Ack
Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tonal in Nevermore (discontinued colorway)
Needles: US 5
Modifications: I like the cables to be the same size, so I repeated the first nine rows throughout instead of knitting extra knit rows between cable crosses (per pattern).

If you knit this cozy, it will seem TEENY and you might think it will in no way fit over your device. But trust me, it will!! (these fit our Touch and Paperwhite). It is nice and snug and doesn't fall off. I knit mine (pink one) last year and it has loosened up a lot but still a cozy fit. I suppose if you blocked the cozy, it would relax also.

One last thing!! 

A new haircut! :) I still haven't adjusted to it! Sometimes in the morning when I'm groggy, I think it's just pulled back into a bun. Haha! I really like it; I was ready for a change!
